Dr. Larry A. Allen joined the APC Council in 2026.
Dr. Allen is a nationally recognized cardiologist specializing in advanced heart failure and heart transplantation. His work focuses on improving the delivery of evidence-based heart failure treatments, anticipating the progression of advanced heart failure, and helping patients and their families make informed decisions about invasive therapies and palliative care options.
He has led several major multicenter clinical trials, including DECIDE-LVAD, EPIC-HF, and I-I-CAPTAIN. Dr. Allen also serves as Co-Director of the Colorado Program for Patient-Centered Decisions and is Immediate Past Chair of the American Heart Association’s Clinical Cardiology Council. He has been recognized annually since 2012 as one of Denver’s “Top Doctors” by 5280 Magazine.
